Brian joined ɫɫ��Ƶ in April 2023 and quickly found purpose in the relationships he builds with patients and families during some of their most challenging moments. As a home health physical therapist, he works closely with patients recovering from illness, injury or changes in mobility, helping them safely move forward in the comfort of home.

“My ‘why’ comes from a passion for helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life in the comfort of their own homes,” Brian shared. “I chose this career because I value building meaningful connections while making a tangible impact on patients’ lives.”

Since joining ɫɫ��Ƶ, Brian has continued growing both personally and professionally. Managing a wide range of patient needs while collaborating with interdisciplinary care teams has strengthened his confidence and expanded his clinical skills.

“Seeing patients progress and achieve their goals is what keeps me motivated every day,” he said.

Brian said one of the most rewarding parts of his role is witnessing the small moments that make a big difference for patients and families.

“One moment that stands out is helping a patient regain the ability to safely walk and care for themselves after a significant decline in mobility,” he recalled. “Seeing their confidence return and the relief it brought to their family was incredibly rewarding.”

Brian says the support and teamwork at ɫɫ��Ƶ are a big part of what makes his work special.

Caring Career Spotlight: Amanda, Clinical Coordinator

Amanda has spent three decades caring for others, and she still finds joy in helping people through life’s most important moments.

Since joining ɫɫ��Ƶ in January 2025 as an LPN Clinical Coordinator, she has become part of the team working behind the scenes to help patients receive compassionate care in the comfort of home.

“I have been an LPN for 30 years, and I truly enjoy helping and caring for others in the good times and the bad times,” Amanda shared.

One of the things she values most about home health is the opportunity to help patients remain in familiar surroundings while receiving the support they need to stay safe and independent.

“I love working for ɫɫ��Ƶ because we get to keep our patients safe in their homes where they can thrive at their best,” she said.

In her role as a Clinical Coordinator, Amanda helps keep communication flowing between care teams, office staff, patients and families. She says the strong sense of teamwork across the branches plays a major role in creating a positive experience for everyone involved.

“Our team works together in all aspects — whether it be for other team members or for our patients — and we support each other daily,” she explained.

That collaboration extends far beyond one department. Amanda is proud of the way every team member contributes to making patients feel valued, respected and cared for like family.

“I’m proud that we as a team provide our patients with the best care,” she said. “Whether it be the field staff or the office staff, we strive to make our patients feel as important as they are and treat them like family.”

While she spends each day supporting others, Amanda says she has also felt encouraged and uplifted by the people around her since joining ɫɫ��Ƶ.

“The support and guidance I have received while working at ɫɫ��Ƶ has been amazing,” she said. “It gives me great joy knowing that I work for such an amazing company.”

After 30 years in nursing, Amanda still approaches her work with the same compassion that first led her into health care: helping patients feel supported, cared for and never alone in their journey.

Caring Career Spotlight: Kyle, Speech Language Pathologist

Kyle’s passion for helping people shines through every part of his work as a speech-language pathologist. From helping patients regain communication skills to supporting safer swallowing at home, he has spent the last decade building meaningful relationships and guiding patients through their health journey.

“I chose this career because, at my core, I love helping people,” he explained. “I come from a competitive sports background, and that mindset has never left me. I have always viewed myself less as a clinician and more as a coach.”

That coaching mindset helps Kyle build strong relationships with patients and families while encouraging them through recovery and rehabilitation.

“What brings me the greatest joy as a speech-language pathologist is getting to truly know my patients,” he said. “Building genuine rapport, making real connections and understanding what drives them. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone reach a goal they once thought impossible.”

For Kyle, some of the most meaningful moments are often the simplest ones.

“The expression on a client’s face when they pass a swallow study and are clear to eat by mouth again, or the moment a patient who has struggled to communicate is able to pick up the phone and have a real conversation with a friend or family member,” he shared. “Being the person who helps give that back to someone is something that never gets old.”

Kyle joined ɫɫ��Ƶ 10 years ago. Since then, his role has grown beyond home health patient visits. He has contributed to several company-wide initiatives focused on improving care for patients receiving speech therapy at home. He said some of his proudest accomplishments have come from helping create tools and programs that improve the experience for both clinicians and patients.

“My role has expanded, becoming a team member for various company-wide projects,” Kyle shared. “Most notably ‘Project Lightning,’ which has vastly improved our documentation for our speech pathologists throughout Elara, and the implementation of Constant Therapy, which has been a game changer for our patients with cognitive and language deficits.”

Kyle credits the strong culture and teamwork at ɫɫ��Ƶ as a major reason he has stayed with the organization for so many years.

“What I love most about working at Elara is the people,” he said. “Many of our therapists have worked together for 5, 10, even 15 years, which is truly rare in healthcare. We feel supported, we feel heard and there is a genuine commitment to positive change and innovative thinking.”

Caring Career Spotlight: Kathleen, RN Case Manager

For Kathleen, hospice care has never just been a job. It’s a calling shaped by years of experience, meaningful connections and a deep belief in the power of compassion at the end of life.

Kathleen has been part of the ɫɫ��Ƶ team for more than a decade, beginning her journey in 2012 with the Kokomo, Indiana branch as an after-hours nurse. Over the years, she has grown through several roles, supporting patients and families across surrounding communities as the organization expanded into new areas.

Her leadership experience as a clinical team manager gave her the opportunity to guide teams and support operations, but it also helped her realize where her heart truly belongs.

“I returned to case management because I missed the direct patient care aspect of hospice,” she said.

Today, Kathleen continues in her role as an RN case manager, where she not only cares for patients but also helps shape the next generation of nurses. She precepts new team members across multiple roles, including case managers, after-hours nurses, LPNs and PRN nurses, sharing her knowledge and passion for hospice care.

Kathleen’s path to hospice began long before joining ɫɫ��Ƶ. After five years in sub-acute care and rehab nursing, she entered hospice in 2003 with the idea that it might be a stepping stone into hospital nursing. Instead, it became her purpose.

“I found that hospice was a perfect fit for me,” she said. “My personal motivation for remaining in hospice is the fulfillment and reward I feel providing terminally ill patients with the care they deserve at end of life.”

Her approach to care is grounded in empathy, a value she holds close in every interaction.

“My philosophy follows that of Audrey Hepburn, that nothing is more important than empathy for another human being’s suffering.”

That philosophy comes to life in the moments she shares with patients and families. One experience has stayed with her and continues to shape how she views her role.

Kathleen once cared for a patient living with ALS. Years later, that same family sought her out again during another deeply difficult time.

“Two years after he passed away, his wife tracked me down, as I was now working for Elara, to care for her oldest daughter who had terminal brain cancer,” Kathleen recalled. “I was chosen by this family to care for her because of the care, compassion and bond I had developed with them.”

For Kathleen, moments like this are a powerful reminder of the impact hospice care can have, not just during one chapter, but across a family’s journey.

“That is the heartfelt memory that gives me confidence that I am doing what God has chosen for me,” she said.

It’s this unwavering commitment to compassionate care, combined with her experience and mentorship, that defines Kathleen’s work each day. Through every patient interaction and every new nurse she supports, she continues to carry forward what hospice care is truly about: dignity, connection and being present when it’s needed most.

“After a short interview, I knew this was exactly where I was meant to be,” she shared, remembering how the leadership team emphasized putting patients first and always doing the right thing.

Emily says that’s one of the reasons she loves working at ɫɫ��Ƶ.

“At Elara, patients and their families always come first,” she said. “There’s a strong focus on providing the right care, at the right time, in the right place.”

She also values the recognition and support employees receive, which helps teams stay motivated and connected.

“It’s a place where people are appreciated for the work they do,” she added.

Over the years, Emily has grown her career across multiple roles. Today, as a Clinical Team Specialist, she brings a well-rounded understanding of home health care that helps her support both patients and care teams more effectively.

“Experiencing different parts of home health has helped me grow my knowledge and my love for caring for patients at home,” she said. “Working here has become more than a job. It’s a career I’m very passionate about.”

For Emily, nursing is a calling.

“I believe we are each here for a purpose,” she shared. “For me, that purpose is to care for others and show compassion through nursing.”

For Jenna, caring for others has been the thread connecting every step of her career.

She first joined ɫɫ��Ƶ in 2009 as a Customer Service Representative, where she spent five years supporting patients, internal teams and referral partners. Even in those early days, Jenna saw her role as more than answering calls. She saw it as a way to care for people.

“I loved providing care through customer service to our patients, internal teams and referral sources,” she shared.

From there, her path continued to grow. Jenna stepped into leadership roles, eventually becoming a Branch Director for skilled home health.

Her journey reflects both professional growth and a deep connection to the mission behind the work.

“The ‘why’ behind the work I do is because I love to care for patients, even if it’s not face to face,” Jenna said. “My purpose in life is to help make other people’s lives better in any way that I can.”

That purpose became personal long before her career began. When Jenna first discovered ɫɫ��Ƶ, it was through her own family.

“Elara was caring for my mother at the time I started, and they took such great care of her,” she explained. “I wanted to work for a company that provided that kind of patient experience.”

Today, that same motivation continues to guide her. Jenna points to both her team and the patients they serve as the reason she stays inspired.

“What keeps me motivated is the people I work with and the patients I serve.”

As a leader, Jenna values the culture she’s helped build and the support she feels across the organization. Despite being part of a large, nationwide company, she says ɫɫ��Ƶ maintains a strong sense of connection at every level.

While her role today focuses on leadership and operations, Jenna still carries with her the moments that shaped her early experience, including one that continues to stand out years later.

“I always go back to one of my first customer service calls,” she said. “It was a widowed woman who called late at night. She just wanted someone to talk to.”

Jenna spent nearly an hour on the phone with her.

“At the end, she was very happy. You could tell she was lonely and just needed someone in that moment,” she said. “Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest impact.”

That mindset — that every interaction matters — continues to influence how she leads her team today.

While much of hospice care happens at the bedside, there’s also a dedicated team working behind the scenes to make sure everything comes together smoothly. Ashlee, a hospice clinical coordinator, plays a key role in making that happen.

Ashlee joined ɫɫ��Ƶ in 2021 and has grown significantly within her role.

“My journey has really been about learning how all the moving pieces of hospice care come together,” she explained. “From admission coordination to supporting our clinicians and making sure they have what they need to give the best care possible.”

Over time, Ashlee has taken on additional responsibilities, including training team members and deepening her knowledge of compliance and care standards. But what stands out most to her isn’t just the logistics — it’s the human side of hospice.

“I’ve really grown in understanding the level of compassion this work takes,” she shared. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how what I do behind the scenes actually impacts both our team and the patients we serve.”

Her passion for this work started early. At just 18 years old, she witnessed firsthand how hospice care can transform a difficult moment into something more peaceful.

“I watched a hospice nurse take something that felt really scary and turn it into something peaceful — and honestly, kind of beautiful,” Ashlee recalled. “She took the time to explain what was happening, how the medications worked, and how to care for the patient.”

That experience stayed with her. Years later, when both of her grandfathers received hospice care, it reinforced just how important this support is, not only for patients, but for their families as well.

Today, Ashlee’s “why” is simple but powerful: “Making sure people feel cared for and supported during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.”

Even though she isn’t physically present in the home, she knows her role is essential to the care experience.

“I take a lot of pride in being someone my team can rely on to keep things organized, moving and always centered around the patient,” she said.

That sense of teamwork is something she values deeply. “What stands out most to me about Elara is the team. Even when things get chaotic, there’s always a strong sense of support and teamwork.”

After graduating, Bonnie stepped into a full-time field nurse role, quickly becoming an integral part of the team. Her leadership skills and commitment to patient care didn’t go unnoticed. Within months, she advanced to RN Supervisor, and over time, continued to grow into broader leadership roles. Today, she serves as Branch Director for two personal care services teams, while also acting as the Clinical Team Lead for nursing in one Missouri branch.
