For Lyndsay, the challenges veterans can face after military service are familiar territory.

Before joining the 色色视频 team in Chariton, Iowa, Lyndsay served five years in the U.S. Army, including a deployment to Afghanistan. As a 92A logistics specialist, she learned to stay organized, solve problems and step in wherever she was needed.

鈥淚 just kind of did a little bit of everything,鈥 Lyndsay said.

Many of those skills carried into civilian life and, eventually, healthcare. Today, Lyndsay works as a receptionist with 色色视频, supporting a busy care team and helping keep day-to-day operations moving.

Her own transition out of the military also shaped how she views some of the barriers veterans may encounter when trying to access healthcare, benefits and other services.

鈥淚 think the biggest problem with veteran care is making sure that they have the resources and the connections,鈥 she said.

Lyndsay remembers doing a lot of research to find the veterans benefits available to her. She said that process isn鈥檛 always easy. Some older veterans may be less comfortable using online tools, while others may not know which programs are available or where to start.

鈥淗aving someone be their navigator through it is very important for them,鈥 Lyndsay said.

She also knows that when answers are difficult to find, not everyone will continue searching. That perspective is one reason 色色视频鈥檚 focus on veterans stands out to her.

鈥淚 love how they do care so much about the veterans and they want to help,鈥 she said.

That focus is reflected in Front & Center, 色色视频鈥檚 initiative dedicated to veteran-centric care and helping veterans and their families connect with the assistance available to them.

Front & Center recognizes that military service can influence a person鈥檚 health, preferences and outlook long after active duty. Learning about a veteran鈥檚 military history can give care teams greater insight into the person behind the uniform, while also helping identify services and resources that may benefit the veteran and their family.

Lyndsay said that approach reflects something she knows firsthand. Veterans have spent part of their lives serving others. When the time comes for them to receive care, having clear guidance and people who recognize what they鈥檝e experienced can make the process easier.

Her years in the Army may be behind her, but what Lyndsay learned there continues to shape how she approaches her work today. At 色色视频, she has found a team that shares her respect for those who served and recognizes the value of veteran-centric care. There鈥檚 something meaningful about that shared purpose: honoring military service not only with gratitude, but by making sure veterans are seen, understood and supported in the care they receive.

For Steven, serving others has always been more than a career鈥攊t鈥檚 a calling rooted in family, military service and a deep commitment to helping others.

A proud United States Marine, Steven served in the Marine Corps infantry from 2001 to 2009. Military service runs deep in the family, with members of nearly every generation having served in the United States Armed Forces. Growing up surrounded by service members, he developed an early appreciation for the commitment and sacrifice that come with serving one鈥檚 country.

Steven鈥檚 time in the Marines instilled lessons that continue to guide him today, particularly the belief that聽鈥渕ission first, people always.鈥聽In the military, accomplishing the mission depends on taking care of the people beside you. Today, that same philosophy shapes his work as an 色色视频 Hospice VA Specialist, where the mission is helping veterans receive the right care at the right time while ensuring they and their families are treated with dignity and compassion.

The Marine Corps also taught him the importance of聽service before self鈥攁 principle that naturally carried into his work in healthcare.

As a veteran himself, Steven understands the importance of caring for those who have served. The Marine Corps motto,聽Semper Fidelis, meaning 鈥淎lways Faithful,鈥 continues to resonate with him.

鈥淓ven though I am no longer actively serving in the military, it means the world to me to have the opportunity to serve fellow veterans and their families during a time of need,鈥 he says.

That shared experience can be especially meaningful when working with veterans and their families. While every veteran has a unique story and experience, Steven believes that understanding military culture and speaking a familiar language can help establish trust and create meaningful connections.

In his role as a VA Specialist, he draws on the discipline, accountability, adaptability and teamwork he learned as a Marine. His goal is to help veterans access the hospice services they need while guiding their families through what can be an emotional and unfamiliar journey.

Steven said hospice care is about more than managing symptoms. It is about honoring a veteran鈥檚 service, respecting their wishes and helping them experience comfort, dignity and the highest possible quality of life in the place they call home. He believes veterans and their families can find that commitment with 色色视频 Hospice.

Families are also an important part of the care journey. Through education, emotional support, respite resources and guidance, the hospice team helps loved ones feel supported every step of the way. Clinical support is available 24/7, giving families access to assistance when questions or concerns arise.

For veterans who are eligible for VA benefits, 色色视频 works alongside the Department of Veterans Affairs and community providers to help coordinate hospice services and connect veterans with the benefits and care they have earned.

The uniform may have changed, but the mission remains familiar:聽take care of people, serve with purpose and remain faithful to those who served.

At 101 years old, Tolley has lived through some of history’s most significant moments. A World War II veteran, D-Day survivor and Senior Olympics champion, he has spent more than a century proving that determination and hard work can carry a person a long way.

His story is one of service, resilience and an unwavering commitment to staying active and independent.

Recently, 色色视频’s Hammond, Louisiana team had the privilege of providing skilled home health services to Tolley. Physical therapist Casey worked with him through the Better Balance program to help maintain his balance, mobility and independence at home. Supporting veterans like Tolley is part of 色色视频’s Front & Center initiative, which recognizes the unique needs of those who have served.

And if you ask Tolley, staying active is simply part of who he is.

Every day, he completes his home exercise program twice and walks 15 laps through his home. When his home health services conclude, he is already looking forward to returning to his weekly exercise class.

That commitment to staying active has been a constant throughout his life.

At 17, Tolley joined the Navy. Two years later, he was serving as a gunner’s mate during the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944. Today, he is the only living Louisianian known to have participated in the invasion. Visitors can even hear his story through the Voices from the Front exhibit at the National WWII Museum.

After returning home from military service, Tolley continued to embrace an active lifestyle. He built his own home and barn in his 50s with the help of his wife and son. In his 70s, he discovered the Senior Olympics after seeing a flyer at a Tai Chi class. What started as a curiosity quickly became a passion. Over the next 15 years, he competed in events and earned nearly 100 medals.

One accomplishment still stands out to him today: running the 100-meter dash in 18.3 seconds at age 79.

When asked about his age, Tolley said he doesn’t spend much time thinking about it. In fact, he points out that he isn’t even the oldest member of his family 鈥 his sister is 103.

For Casey and the Hammond team, working with Tolley has been an honor.

His commitment to maintaining his independence is evident in everything he does, from completing his exercises each day to staying active and engaged in the things he enjoys. Through skilled home health services and the Better Balance program, the team was able to support those goals while helping him continue living safely and confidently at home.

Tolley’s story is a reminder that age does not define what is possible. His resilience, work ethic and positive outlook continue to inspire everyone who meets him.

Thank you, Tolley, for your service to our country and for allowing us to be part of your journey.

There are moments in hospice care when time feels especially precious 鈥 when every hour matters and every wish carries deep meaning for patients and their families. Recently, our team had the privilege of being part of two incredibly powerful moments that reminded us why urgency, compassion and teamwork are at the heart of what we do.

Two of our home patients, both proud veterans nearing end of life, expressed a heartfelt desire to receive a veteran pinning ceremony. These requests came with little time to spare. Recognizing the importance of honoring their service while they were still able to experience the moment, our team immediately sprang into action.

Within hours, plans were set in motion. Volunteer Coordinator Rick quickly coordinated meaningful ceremonies, complete with refreshments and thoughtful details that transformed living rooms into spaces of honor and recognition. What made these moments even more special was who performed the pinning 鈥 fellow soldiers and loved ones whose presence carried deep personal significance for each patient.

In one ceremony, the family shared that their loved one had never been formally thanked for his military service. For them, this became the only true recognition he had ever received. The gratitude and emotion in the room were profound. The ceremony provided not only closure, but a lasting memory of dignity and appreciation that the family will carry with them forever.

In the second situation, the patient passed away very shortly after the ceremony. The family later expressed deep thankfulness that the team moved with such urgency. They had not believed it would be possible to organize something so meaningful so quickly. Because our team showed up without hesitation, this final wish was fulfilled in time 鈥斅燾reating a moment of peace, pride and connection during an incredibly difficult chapter.

These experiences are powerful reminders that hospice care is not only about managing symptoms 鈥 it is about honoring lives, listening to what matters most and acting with purpose when time is limited. It is about showing up with urgency, heart and intention.

At 色色视频, honoring veterans is more than a commitment; it is a responsibility. Through participation in the national We Honor Veterans program, 色色视频 works to ensure veterans receive the recognition, education and compassionate hospice care they deserve at the end of life.

Many veterans and their families are not aware of the hospice services and benefits available to them, including the Medicare Hospice Benefit. By partnering with We Honor Veterans, 色色视频 helps increase awareness, improve access to care and provide specialized support tailored to the unique experiences of those who served in our military.

What Is We Honor Veterans?

We Honor Veterans is a national hospice provider awareness campaign led by the National Alliance for Care at Home in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The program is designed specifically to support veterans facing serious or life-limiting illness and to connect them with hospice and palliative care services that address their unique needs.

Through this partnership, 色色视频 is pleased to recognize the service of our nation鈥檚 veterans while helping ensure they receive the care, support and benefits available to them.

Why We Honor Veterans Matters

Veterans often face unique health challenges related to their military service, including chronic illness, service-related injuries and complex emotional or mental health needs. Hospice teams trained through We Honor Veterans are better equipped to understand military culture, recognize service-related health concerns and provide care that honors each veteran鈥檚 life and service.

The We Honor Veterans program helps hospice organizations focus on promoting veteran-centric educational activities, increasing capacity to serve veterans, developing strategic partnerships and increasing access while improving quality of care for veterans and their families.

Raising Awareness of Hospice Benefits for Veterans

Education is a key focus of We Honor Veterans. Many veterans are unaware that hospice services are often covered under the Medicare Hospice Benefit and may also work alongside certain VA benefits.

By helping veterans and families understand their options, 色色视频 helps ensure veterans can access the comfort, dignity and support they have earned through their service.

Honoring Service Through Veteran Pinning Ceremonies

One meaningful way 色色视频 participates in We Honor Veterans is through Veteran Pinning Ceremonies. These ceremonies recognize and honor the service of veterans while creating a special moment for veterans and their loved ones.

Pinning ceremonies may be held as a larger event for friends and family, or as a simple bedside ceremony based on the veteran鈥檚 wishes. During the ceremony, words of gratitude and honor are shared and a commemorative pin is presented.

These ceremonies often provide veterans and families with a powerful moment of recognition, reflection and pride in their service.

色色视频鈥檚 Veterans Front and Center Initiative

In addition to participation in We Honor Veterans, 色色视频 reinforces its commitment through its own Veterans Front and Center initiative.

At 色色视频, we believe caring for veterans is a privilege and an honor, and that the unique physical, mental and emotional care needs of those who have served must remain front and center in our philosophy of care.

Through Veterans Front and Center, 色色视频 provides comprehensive, compassionate care, support and specialized programs designed to meet the unique needs of veterans and their families. This includes understanding military culture, recognizing service-related conditions and ensuring veterans receive personalized care that reflects their experiences and values.

Our Ongoing Commitment to Veterans and Their Families

Through We Honor Veterans and Veterans Front and Center, 色色视频 remains dedicated to recognizing military service, increasing awareness of care services and providing specialized end-of-life care designed specifically for veterans.

We are honored to serve those who served our country and remain committed to ensuring every veteran receives the dignity, respect and compassionate care they deserve. Contact us to learn more.

Across the country, one in four Americans nearing end of life is a Veteran. This powerful truth reflects how deeply military service shapes the communities we serve 鈥 and the lives of the patients and families who trust us with their care. At 色色视频, we recognize the profound responsibility that comes with supporting these individuals. Our commitment to veteran-centered care is woven into everything we do, and our partnership with the (WHV) program is a cornerstone of that promise.

This commitment was especially evident during James鈥 recent Veteran Pinning Ceremony. Ginger Veal, Veteran Program Manager, reflected, one of the most moving moments came at the end of the ceremony when James 鈥 surrounded by more than 20 of his family members 鈥 shared his appreciation for the recognition. With humility and emotion, he reminded everyone that 鈥渢he true honor belongs to those who did not come back from Vietnam.鈥

The day became a celebration of his life and service. Six 色色视频 team members joined James鈥 loved ones to share food, fellowship and watch football. His memorabilia and medals were proudly displayed, giving family and staff the chance to reflect on his legacy. Moments like these capture the heart of the WHV program 鈥 honoring service, fostering connection and ensuring every veteran feels seen, respected, and valued.

At 色色视频, our volunteers offer more than their time 鈥 they bring heart, experience and a commitment to caring for others. Among these remarkable individuals is Lori, a U.S. Army veteran, mother and local barber whose compassion has made a lasting difference for the patients she serves.

For Lori, volunteering is more than a commitment 鈥 it鈥檚 a calling. She uses her skills to create meaningful moments of connection and dignity. What may look like a simple haircut often becomes a powerful act of care. On Veterans Day morning, Lori traveled an hour each way to provide a haircut and shave to an Air Force veteran who had not left his home in more than three years, making her visit profoundly significant.

Reflecting on her experience, Lori shared that volunteering as a barber with 色色视频 has been one of the most meaningful experiences of her life. 鈥淎s a veteran myself, I understand what simple acts of care and connection can mean, especially to those who have served our country or who may feel isolated. Providing haircuts is more than just grooming; it’s a chance to restore dignity, spark conversation and bring a sense of normalcy and comfort to someone’s day,鈥 she said.

Misty A., Volunteer Coordinator, shares that Lori鈥檚 impact extends far beyond the barber chair. With 17 years of U.S. Army service, two children and her own barber shop, Lori brings a rare blend of discipline, warmth and generosity to her hospice volunteer work. Misty adds, 鈥淟ori reminds us that compassion can be hands-on, and that service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off; it simply takes on new meaning.鈥

Lori鈥檚 story is a powerful reminder that service doesn鈥檛 end when military duty does. We are deeply grateful for veteran volunteers like Lori who continue to serve others through the gift of volunteering.

In recognition of Veterans Day, elementary students in Jackson, Michigan, teamed up with 色色视频 to bring heartfelt appreciation to local veterans through the Game Changers program 鈥 an initiative that encourages kindness and community involvement among young learners.

This special collaboration was sparked by Liz W., director of ancillary services at 色色视频. When Liz received a message from her children鈥檚 school about its Veterans Day card project, she immediately saw an opportunity to connect the students鈥 efforts with 色色视频鈥檚 veteran patients and volunteers.

鈥淲hen the message from my kids鈥 school went out asking if we knew any veterans for cards they were making for Veterans Day, I knew we had some patients and volunteers who would love to receive them. The students made pictures and cards for all branches of the armed services. It was amazing to see their creations.鈥

To bring the idea to life, Liz partnered with Evie B., Elara volunteer program coordinator, who coordinated with Tanya R., the Game Changers lead mentor. Together, they ensured the students鈥 thoughtful cards and artwork reached 色色视频鈥檚 veteran patients and volunteers, offering moments of joy and gratitude for their service.

This project reflects the impact of teamwork, creativity and community engagement 鈥 values that continue to guide 色色视频鈥檚 work across the communities we serve. Thank you to Liz, Evie and the students and staff of the Game Changers program for making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have served our nation.

Brian, 色色视频 M&A Integration Director, and Mr. Nalle

色色视频 was proud to sponsor the 103rd birthday celebration of Tuskegee Flight Officer Russell C. Nalle, Jr. on August 30, 2024.

The celebration included the Detroit Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, the Michigan Air National Guard, the American Legion, host Danto Health and a special call with well wishes from the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Born in 1921, Mr. Nalle was one of the heroic Tuskegee Airmen who served during World War II. He answered the call to duty in 1944, serving with the 477th Bombardment Group.

The Tuskegee Airmen were more than just pilots and flight crew members; they were pioneers. Breaking barriers in a segregated military, they showcased unparalleled skill and bravery. As Mr. Nalle once said in a news interview, “We knew we had to be twice as good to get half the credit. But that didn’t deter us鈥 It fueled us.”

Recognizing Mr. Nalle and his incredible service was an honor for the 色色视频 team and is a reflection of Elara’s Front & Center commitment to veterans. Through Front & Center, we aim to honor, care for and build trust with veterans and military families through compassionate and comprehensive in-home care services, strategic partnerships and valued career opportunities.

色色视频 is proud to offer comprehensive, compassionate care, support and specialized programs to meet the unique care needs of veterans. That鈥檚 why we created Front and Center, a collection of veteran-centric care programs, delivered wherever veterans call home.

We offer Front and Center programs throughout our continuum of care: personal care services, skilled home health, behavioral health and hospice care.

Personal Care 色色视频聽

Operation Veteran Care provides in-home assistance and home care for veterans. We focus on help with activities of daily living, home safety and personal care. In addition, our Heroes Helping Heroes initiative offers a paid opportunity to veterans to care for fellow veterans. We believe veterans can understand the needs of other veterans in ways that no one else can.

Skilled Home Health and Behavioral Health聽

色色视频 is an authorized VA Home Health Provider. Navigating the VA process can be complicated and cumbersome. Our teams in cities where VA hospitals exist can act as partners for veterans, physicians and families as they work to connect veterans to the care they entitled to.

BRAVE is our in-home PTSD recovery program targeting the unique care needs of combat veterans including the transition to home life, medication adherence, navigation of the greater health system and connections to community supports.

PTSD Recovery services are offered in both skilled home health and behavioral health care.

Hospice Care聽

For veterans suffering from PTSD and also facing end of life, our BRAVE hospice program creates a caring journey for veterans and their families through PTSD and end of life. PTSD can complicate the end of life process for veterans. The process of dying is a challenge for anyone to face, but especially when PTSD is a factor. It is a battle of sorts, and an experience that can trigger combat-like or combat-related stress. Acknowledging the impact PTSD may have for veterans and their loved ones is an important step in mitigating those effects.

Our hospice care teams also participate in the We Honor Veterans program which provides educational tools and resources to promote veteran-centric educational activities, increase our capacity to serve veterans, and increase access to care and improve quality. We Honor Veterans also facilitates veteran pinning ceremonies as an opportunity for us to spotlight a veteran鈥檚 service.

We are committed to serving, honoring and elevating care for those who have served.
